Dive deep into yourself, find your voice. Whether you’re writing your first song or you’re a seasoned professional, everyone will be welcomed.
WHAT TO EXPECT

This weekend retreat is an opportunity to explore creative songwriting, song structure, musical expression and singing with a focus on finding your voice and healing through sound.
During the retreat we will prepare the body and voice daily with gentle warm-ups and stretches to help support, open and strengthen our voices. Our program will include, meditation breath work and body exercises to help

WHO IS IT FOR
Our workshop is designed for anybody who has a desire to get more creative and write their own original music, for songwriters who want to develop their songs and their songwriting skills. You'll share the air with like-minded people who are as keen and curious as you are to find out more about songwriting.

WHO WE ARE
​
Nial and Martina have made a living from writing songs, performing, and recording over the last 15 years and have been successfully delivering songwriting and performance workshops & songwriting masterclasses to people of all ages, in particular in primary schools, secondary schools and colleges around Ireland.

FACILITATORS
NIAL TEAGUE
​
Nial has over 15 years experience as a professional musician and recording artist.
He has been involved in the writing recording and production of Witness by Moonlight (2009), Niall Teague and The Fast Company (2010), Big Red Bridge (2018) and Taobh le Taobh (2020). He co-wrote and performed the wining entry at the Panceltic International Song contest 2018. He was winner of the 2018 and 2019 Christmas FM contest, Oireachtas na Gaeilge’s inaugural songwriting contest in 2021.
He has an ME in songwriting from the Irish World Academy, University of Limerick, Ireland. He has shared the stage with The Sharon Shannon band, Mundy, Shane Mc Gowan, Eleanor Shanley, Damian Dempsey, John Spillane and Declan O'Rourke. Performance highlights collectively include The Galway Arts Festival, The Met Bury, Sligo Live, Temple bar trad fest, Purbeck Folk Festival, Warwick folk festival, Bromyard folk festival, Traid Phicnic, Shorelines Arts Festival, White Horse Sessions lahinch, RTE big music week and more. Himself and fellow bandmate Padraic Joyce latest album “What Will We be'' is shortlisted for a Grammy. The album features musical contributions from, Sharon Shannon and Whileaways singer Noriana Kennedy, Contempo Quartet, percussion wizard Jim Higgins (the Stunning, Christy Moore, Paul Brady), Galway drumming legend Miki Belton, and bassist Maidhc O hÉanaigh. His last Xmas single was Hotpress track of the day in December 23. He is also a music tutor at Music Generation Galway.

Martina is a singing teacher, a sound & voice therapist and a Music tutor based in Loughrea, Co Galway. She has been working with voice for the last 16 years and has studied ,Voice frequency therapy, Modern vocal training, Core singing, Speech level singing, Voice & trauma, foundational Fitzmaurice voice work and Biofield tuning. Currently studying Cell Regenerative singing.
She trained as a Sound & voice healer with The Uk College of Sound in 2016 and has studied foundational Fitzmaurice voice work, Biofield tuning, Voice frequency therapy, Modern vocal training and Core singing.
She has been working with children and adults for the last 12 years and has worked in most of the Music schools and colleges in Galway City and County. (Athenry Music school, Coole Music Gort, MCNG Galway. Brereton Academy Loughrea, GCC Galway, Foroige Ballinfoyle, Galway
City Partnership, Pushkin NI.

As a Singer and songwriter, Martina came second in Jazz category to Gregory Porter in The 'ISC International Songwriting competition'' in 2011 and 2nd in UK Songwriting Contest 2009.
Herself and her 12 year old daughter Rhianna won RTE TG4 ‘’ Feis and Blood’’ TV
series in 2011 and were crowned Ireland’s most talented Family. She was winner of The Allingham Song contest 2018 and her last single ‘’ Falling into love’’ came in at number one in the ''Irish Singer Songwriter charts'' and number 15 in ''Itunes chart''
She has performed and presented at numerous festivals and retrteats in Ireland and Europe.
She played Electric Picnic in 2022 with her 6 piece band to a great reception.

When performing she travels across boundaries; playing music that ranges from folk to jazz, to classical, to ambient, and ‘the numinous’. Her strength is her improvisation and ability to harmonize in complex musical settings.
